The easy what? Are we talking about dippy eggs? Breakfast food?
Nope, although I do enjoy a good plate of dippy eggs and buttered toast. We are talk about a Y-O-K-E not a yolk. It is a piece of farm equipment used to bind two animals together, so that they stay a pace of each other, equally bearing the burden they are carrying.
Jesus spoke of yokes, and He said this:
28 “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take up my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
SO… WHAT DID HE SAY?
Jesus speaks about how He teaches us. It is gentle and with great understanding because He lived a life on this Earth. He is acquainted with our suffering and the trials we face. He’s met every single temptation we have.
He compares it to oxen and how they are trained. When a young ox is old enough to learn how to pull a plow or a cart, a wise farmer will yoke him to a larger, older, wiser, even-tempered ox. In this way, the younger ox learns how to follow the pokes and the commands of the farmer, and also has a larger ox bearing the bulk of the load while it learns these things, following the older ox’s lead.
I think we all know what it’s like to be weary and burdened. Or am I wrong?
Worry, doubt and fear all crowd our minds at times. The needs of this life like putting food on the table, a roof over your head, or even just having to spend time with people you don’t necessarily like.
Some people handle being heavy laden better than others, but no one handles it perfectly. That’s why we need Jesus.
Jesus wants us to come to Him with all of our burdens and cares. Place them on Him and seek His comfort and teaching.
I pray you find rest in Him.
Peace in Jesus,
